Nearly half of those living in Mexico have tried drugs or are frequently around drug use, with 13% of Mexicans frequently using drugs. Today there are over 460,000 Mexicans who struggle with an addiction. Availability of Drugs
One of Mexico’s greatest drug issues is the availability of such drugs in the country. Many addicts admit that illegal drugs are often even less expensive than a six-pack of beer. Single doses of cocaine are only $3, making illegal drugs particularly popular in poverty-stricken communities.
Dangers

According to the Addiction Survey, there are 4 million people in Mexico that need some kind of intervention to get off of drugs, with up to 80% of the population requiring prevention help. Recent breakthroughs in detox therapy has found that ibogaine, a psychoactive plant substance, may be able to help treat addicts. Ibogaine treatment programs have been known to reduce cravings for drug use after 72 to 96 hours.
